Scent of Ngong Ping · Incense Amulet
An exclusive souvenir series designed for Ngong Ping 360, reviving the ancient craft of Chinese "Incense Amulets."
Eco-Material: Crafted from upcycled Hong Kong wood and Australian Sandalwood.
Design: Features embossed icons of Lantau landmarks (Big Buddha, Cable Car, Lucky Drums) representing Peace, Fortune, and Success.
Function: A flameless portable diffuser and bag charm, allowing tourists to "carry the blessing" and the scent of Hong Kong everywhere.
Our design thinking centers on "Tangible Blessings." Tourists visit Ngong Ping seeking spiritual peace, but memories fade. We wanted to design a souvenir that allows them to physically carry that spiritual experience home.
Reviving the ancient Chinese craft of "Incense Amulets" (香牌), we combined traditional mold-making with modern aesthetics. We selected three iconic symbols—Six Drums (Success), Cable Car (Rising), and Big Buddha (Peace)—to represent universal wishes. By infusing the scent of sandalwood into upcycled local wood, we created a multi-sensory object that is not just a visual memento, but an olfactory anchor to their journey in Hong Kong.
